About Verulam Tree Care
A tree firm for St Albans built round one idea: in a district with 19 conservation areas, knowing the rules is as much a part of the job as knowing the ropes.
Why the name
Verulamium is the Roman city underneath St Albans. It is also a named conservation area, and Verulam Road is a real street here. It seemed a better fit than another variation on green and leaf, and it says what we are: local, and older than the paperwork.
What we do differently
Not much, and that is rather the point. There is no clever technique here that nobody else has. What there is, is an order of work that most firms leave out.
- We check the protected-tree register before we quote. Every job. Not just the ones near the abbey. It costs us a few minutes and it has saved customers a great deal worse than that.
- We tell you the smallest job that solves your problem. Which is often a reduction rather than a removal, and a smaller invoice for us.
- We never cold call. No doors, no leaflets with a price on, no lorry in the area after a storm.
- We put the access on the quote. Because access is what actually decides the price, and a quote that ignores it is a quote that gets revised on the day.

St Albans and the villages and suburbs around it: Harpenden, Marshalswick, Redbourn, Sandridge, London Colney and Bricket Wood. That is not a boundary fence. If you are just outside it, ring and ask, and if the travel makes it bad value we will say so.
