Based in St Albans, working across the Hertfordshire villages and suburbs around it. Each area has its own protected-tree position, so each one gets its own page.

Harpenden
Harpenden is a conservation area town with a common running through the middle of it. Big garden trees, long-established boundaries and a published character statement mean most of the work here starts with a permissions check rather than a saw.

Marshalswick
Marshalswick is interwar and post-war housing on generous plots, with no conservation area of its own. That makes Tree Preservation Orders the thing to check here, not the six-week conservation notice.

Redbourn
Redbourn is a village conservation area on the River Ver, with a common at its centre and the Nickey Line along its edge. Almost everything mature inside the village boundary needs the six-week notice before a cut.

Sandridge
Sandridge is a named conservation area parish with Heartwood Forest on its doorstep: 347 hectares and 600,000 native trees. Garden work here sits next to serious woodland, and the two are managed on completely different rules.

London Colney
London Colney is a named conservation area, and it also holds Napsbury Park, a Grade II registered park and garden laid out in the 1900s. Anything with a saw inside Napsbury is a consent job, not a weekend job.

Bricket Wood
Bricket Wood has a named conservation area at Old Bricket Wood and a 70 hectare SSSI common on its doorstep. Ancient woodland next to private gardens makes the ownership question the first one to answer.
Why the areas are done properly
Most tree firms list towns in a comma-separated line at the bottom of the homepage. That tells you nothing you could not have guessed. What actually changes from one of these places to the next is the rulebook: Harpenden, Redbourn, Sandridge, London Colney and Old Bricket Wood are named conservation areas, so the six-week notice bites there. Marshalswick is not, so the constraint there is whatever Tree Preservation Order happens to sit on your tree.
That difference decides whether a job takes four weeks or eight, so it belongs on the page rather than in a conversation after you have booked.

These six are where most of our work is, not a boundary fence. If you are elsewhere in the district, or just over it, ring and ask. If it is too far to be worth your money we will say so rather than adding travel to the quote.
