Websites for tree surgeons in Berkhamsted that settle the 75mm question.

Berkhamsted is 8,290 properties in our own total across its three census areas, inside a borough of 25 conservation areas with the town centre among them.

We build a page per job, an area page for the Town, West and South, and a protected trees page. Census 2021 records 36.1 per cent of households in Berkhamsted West as detached, against 21.3 per cent across Dacorum. See it live before you pay a penny, live in 7 days.

The houses in Berkhamsted

Our own total of the Valuation Office stock table CTSOP4.1, stock at 31 March 2025, across the three Berkhamsted census areas is 8,290 properties. 1,410 of them, 17.0 per cent, were built before 1919 and 2,370, 28.6 per cent, before 1940, with 19.3 per cent from 2000 onwards. The published Dacorum row in the same table is 67,930 properties.

Census 2021 table TS044 records 21.3 per cent of Dacorum households in detached houses, 25.0 per cent semi detached, 29.8 per cent terraced and 22.0 per cent in flats. In the three Berkhamsted areas the detached share runs from 24.7 to 36.1 per cent, above the Dacorum figure in all three. Berkhamsted South is the oldest, with 23.8 per cent built before 1919 and 43.1 per cent before 1940.

We would give the three areas a page each and put the conservation area question on its own page, with the council's diameter threshold quoted on it.

Berkhamsted Town

31.8 per cent detached and 19.8 per cent semi detached, with 23.8 per cent in flats; 17.8 per cent built before 1919 and 19.8 per cent from 2000 onwards (Census 2021 TS044; VOA CTSOP4.1). Census 2021 TS054 records 42.4 per cent owning outright. The Berkhamsted conservation area covers the town centre.

Work checked against the conservation area boundary, with the proposed work described in the enquiry.

Berkhamsted West

36.1 per cent detached and 31.7 per cent semi detached, with 25.2 per cent of property built from 2000 onwards (Census 2021 TS044; VOA CTSOP4.1).

Removals and crown work quoted from photographs and a description of the proposed work.

Berkhamsted South

24.7 per cent detached and 23.7 per cent semi detached, with 23.8 per cent built before 1919 and 43.1 per cent before 1940 (Census 2021 TS044; VOA CTSOP4.1).

The rules that change a tree surgery job in Berkhamsted

Dacorum Borough Council states the conservation area rule plainly: "All trees in conservation areas are protected if they are more than 75 millimetres in diameter, measured at 1.5 metres above ground level", and "It's an offence to work on a tree in a conservation area without giving us six weeks' written notice (known as a Section 211 notice). This period allows us to decide if the tree(s) needs protection through a Tree Preservation Order". It lists the exemptions as dead trees, dead branches and twigs, and dangerous trees, and adds "you should check with us first, giving at least five days' notice".

On orders the council says "A TPO makes it illegal to fell, lop, prune, or damage a tree without our consent", that it can make an order without notice or consultation, that there are at least 28 days in which to object, that replacement planting will be required if removal is approved, and that "All works to TPO trees should follow the British Standard 3998". Dacorum has 25 conservation areas, and the council names Berkhamsted among the large central areas.

Nationally, gov.uk describes the requirement for "people to notify the local planning authority, using a section 211 notice, 6 weeks before carrying out certain work on such trees, unless an exception applies", and says the work may go ahead sooner where the authority gives consent. The same guidance states that consent "is needed for carrying out work on diseased and/or dying trees unless some other exemption applies".

We would explain how you check the conservation area boundary, any tree preservation order and the proposed work before confirming whether a section 211 notice or consent is needed.

Who you are up against in Berkhamsted

We counted the Google Maps results for tree surgeons in Berkhamsted on 16 September 2026. The sample was 40 listings. Two of them are tree firms with a Berkhamsted address and both have a website. Thirty three are tree firms based elsewhere, most of them in Tring, Hemel Hempstead, Aylesbury and Chesham. Four are not tree firms at all, two tree farms, a gardening firm and a log supplier, and one is a national arboriculture firm counted separately.

That is one dated sample of one search. What we would do with it is give Berkhamsted Town, West and South a page each, with a protected trees page carrying the 75 millimetre threshold and the six weeks' notice wording.

Where a tree surgeon in Berkhamsted gets to when they invest

Two Berkhamsted firms whose websites we opened and checked. One of them gives tree preservation orders and conservation areas their own page in the top navigation, beside trees and development, tree risk management and expert witness work.

  • Patrick Stileman Ltd

Built on WordPress. It has no page per area and no reviews on the page. Quotes come through a form.

It gives Tree Preservation Orders and conservation areas their own page in the top nav, alongside trees and development, tree risk management and expert witness work, and states that the practice has traded since 2003 and that the principal is a Registered Consultant of the Arboricultural Association, a Chartered Arboriculturist with the Institute of Chartered Foresters and a professional member of RICS.

  • Rich Roots Gardeners Ltd - Berkhamsted

Quotes come through a booking form.

The site uses a booking platform, and the page title names Rich Roots Gardeners Berkhamsted Ltd.

The one site we could check does not keep the phone number in the header, the one site we could check does not carry reviews on the page, and the one site we could check does not run a page per area. Each one opened and checked 16 September 2026.

The Berkhamsted searches worth their own page

  • "tree surgeon Berkhamsted"

30 searches a month (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026)

The town page, naming Berkhamsted Town, West and South with a finished job in each.

  • "tree surgeons in Berkhamsted"

no recorded monthly volume (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026)

The plural form. It lands on the town page rather than on one of its own.

  • "tree removal Berkhamsted"

no recorded monthly volume (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026)

A removal page gets built anyway, with one dismantle shot from the first cut to the swept drive.

Of the three phrases shown, one carries a volume. Tree surgeons in Berkhamsted returned a row with no volume on it and tree removal Berkhamsted returned no row at all (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026).

What we would build for a Berkhamsted tree surgeon

  • A home page naming Berkhamsted Town, Berkhamsted West and Berkhamsted South.
  • A tree removal page with one job carried from the first cut to the swept drive.
  • A crown work page covering reduction, thinning and lifting on your own trees.
  • A stump grinding page with the machine, the access width and the finished ground.
  • A hedge page, priced by run and height, that keeps the trims out of the urgent queue.
  • A protected trees page quoting the 75 millimetre threshold, the six weeks' notice and British Standard 3998.
  • Area pages for Berkhamsted Town, Berkhamsted West and Berkhamsted South.
  • A quote tool that asks removal, crown, hedge or stump, how urgent it is, what the access is like, and takes a photograph of the whole tree.

Tree surgeons in Berkhamsted ask us

  • Berkhamsted is small. Is a website worth it here?

The Google Maps query returned 40 listings on 16 September 2026, two of them tree firms with Berkhamsted addresses and 33 tree firms based elsewhere. Those counts describe one query on one day. A site for Berkhamsted work would carry your own finished local jobs, your qualifications and insurance, and a quote tool that takes a photograph of the tree.

  • What does Dacorum actually require in the conservation area?

The council states that all trees in conservation areas are protected if they are more than 75 millimetres in diameter measured at 1.5 metres, and that working on one without giving six weeks' written notice is an offence. Berkhamsted is one of the borough's 25 conservation areas. Your page would explain how you check the requirements and the exemptions for each job.

  • What can the local housing figures tell me?

Census 2021 records 36.1 per cent of households in Berkhamsted West as detached and 31.8 per cent in Berkhamsted Town, against 21.3 per cent across Dacorum. Those figures describe accommodation type. They do not establish garden size or which services customers need, and the pages would show your own jobs instead.
