Websites for window fitters in Bedworth that answer the timber question first.

The adopted Bedworth Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan of 2022 states that uPVC or plastic windows and doors "are not a traditional or vernacular material and are unsuitable for use in historic buildings", and that replacing uPVC with timber products is encouraged.

We build a page per product, a page for each of the four areas and a page quoting the appraisal's guidance on replacement windows and doors, with a link to the full document. Our own totals over the four named Bedworth areas record 42.0 per cent of properties built between 1945 and 1972 (VOA CTSOP4.1, 31 March 2025). See it live before you pay a penny, live in 7 days.

The houses in Bedworth

Our own totals over the four named Bedworth areas cover 13,420 properties in the Valuation Office stock table CTSOP4.1 at 31 March 2025. 1,110, 8.3 per cent, predate 1919 and 2,700, 20.1 per cent, predate 1940. A further 1,590, 11.8 per cent, date from 1919 to 1939 and 5,630, 42.0 per cent, from 1945 to 1972. The published Nuneaton and Bedworth borough row covers 61,560 properties at 11.1 per cent pre 1919 and 24.0 per cent pre 1940.

Bedworth Town records 54.9 per cent built from 1945 to 1972 and 9.5 per cent before 1919. Bedworth Heath records 50.8 per cent from 1945 to 1972. Coalpit Field and Exhall records 11.3 per cent before 1919 and 24.8 per cent from 2000 onwards. Woodlands records 21.4 per cent before 1940 and 36.7 per cent from 1973 to 1999 (VOA CTSOP4.1). Census 2021 table TS054 records 14.8 per cent of borough households renting from a private landlord or letting agency, and 20.2 per cent in Coalpit Field and Exhall.

The council's 2022 appraisal is the strongest material this town gives a window firm. We would quote it on a page of its own, name the timber work you do, and keep the post war estate pages separate from it.

Bedworth Town

9.5 per cent before 1919 and 54.9 per cent built from 1945 to 1972, with 53.7 per cent of households in semi detached houses and 17.0 per cent in flats (VOA CTSOP4.1 and Census 2021 TS044).

What you fit in the town centre conservation area, with the council's own appraisal quoted, beside the standard replacement pages.

Coalpit Field & Exhall

11.3 per cent before 1919 and 24.8 per cent built from 2000 onwards, with 33.7 per cent of households terraced and 20.2 per cent renting from a private landlord or letting agency (VOA CTSOP4.1 and Census 2021 TS044 and TS054).

How you quote for a landlord or a managing agent as well as an owner occupier, where you take that work.

Heath

4.0 per cent before 1919 and 50.8 per cent built from 1945 to 1972, with 54.2 per cent of households in semi detached houses (VOA CTSOP4.1 and Census 2021 TS044).

Finished work on post war semi detached housing, with the frame materials and door ranges named.

Woodlands

21.4 per cent before 1940 and 36.7 per cent built from 1973 to 1999, with 29.0 per cent of households detached (VOA CTSOP4.1 and Census 2021 TS044).

A replacement page and a repair page kept separate, the older and later work photographed apart.

The rules that change a window and door fitting job in Bedworth

The adopted Bedworth Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan of 2022 states at 9.3.6 that "UPVC or plastic windows and doors are not a traditional or vernacular material and are unsuitable for use in historic buildings. The replacement of uPVC windows and doors with timber products is encouraged", and at 9.3.7 that for steel or aluminium windows "the appearance and detailing of these windows is not usually in character with most historic buildings. Their use is discouraged unless used in the original building design." At 5.10.4 it records that "Modern buildings have uPVC windows, also several historic buildings have had their windows inappropriately replaced with uPVC units."

The same appraisal states at 10.1.4 that "The 2021 review identified; 53, 55, 57, 59, King Street, Bedworth, and 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36 Chapel Street, Bedworth as buildings where certain permitted development rights should be suspended", and that "The Council will keep the proposed Article 4 Direction under review". That is a proposal, and a page should say as much. Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council also states that "You will need to obtain Listed Building consent if you wish to demolish a listed building or alter it in any way which will affect its historic fabric or character".

The Planning Portal states that "An external window or door is a 'controlled fitting' under the Building Regulations" and that "Since 1 April 2002 building regulations have applied to all replacement glazing". It gives two routes: "an installer registered with the relevant competent person scheme", who provides a certificate on completion, or an unregistered installer or do it yourself, "in which case approval can be sought from the relevant Building Control Body". GOV.UK names Blue Flame Certification, CERTASS, Certsure, Fensa, NAPIT and ASSURE for replacement windows and doors in existing dwellings.

We would explain how you check the conservation boundary, any Article 4 direction and the proposed work before confirming whether permission is needed, with the appraisal's own paragraph numbers cited beside the quotations.

Who you are up against in Bedworth

We counted the Google Maps results for window fitters in Bedworth on 17 September 2026. The sample was 40 listings: 1 was a window or door firm with a Bedworth postal address, and it listed a website. Five more Bedworth addresses were an auto glass shop, a window cleaning service, a roofing contractor, a vehicle tinting service and a phone repair shop. The other 34 gave addresses in Coventry, Nuneaton, Hinckley, Leicester and further out, or none at all. A second pull on double glazing Bedworth returned the same single firm.

That is two dated samples of two searches. What we would do with them is give Bedworth Town, Coalpit Field and Exhall, Bedworth Heath and Woodlands a page each, carrying the openings you have finished in them and the council's own conservation wording.

What we would build for a Bedworth window fitting firm

  • A home page naming Bedworth Town, Coalpit Field and Exhall, Bedworth Heath and Bedworth Woodlands.
  • A conservation area page quoting the 2022 appraisal at 9.3.6 on uPVC and timber.
  • A timber windows and doors page for the historic buildings the appraisal describes.
  • A page on the proposed direction at King Street and Chapel Street, stated as a proposal under review.

What every window and door fitting site needs, whatever the town, is on our window fitters page.

Window fitters in Bedworth ask us

  • Does the council say anything about uPVC in the town centre?

The adopted Bedworth Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan of 2022 states that uPVC or plastic windows and doors are not a traditional or vernacular material and are unsuitable for use in historic buildings, and that replacing uPVC with timber products is encouraged. A page quoting that, and naming the timber work you do, answers it before the survey.

  • Are any Bedworth streets flagged for an Article 4 direction?

The council's 2022 appraisal states that the 2021 review identified 53, 55, 57 and 59 King Street and 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34 and 36 Chapel Street as buildings where certain permitted development rights should be suspended, and that it will keep the proposed direction under review. That is a proposal, and the page should say so.

  • Nothing I search shows a volume for Bedworth. What then?

Of the eight phrases queried on 17 September 2026, seven returned no row from OpenSEO and double glazing Bedworth returned a row with no volume on it. Nothing was estimated. The page still has the council's own conservation wording and the borough housing figures behind it, and both are checkable.
