The published Nuneaton and Bedworth local authority row covers 61,560 properties at 11.1 per cent pre 1919 and 24.0 per cent pre 1940.
Nuneaton Town Centre records 45.3 per cent before 1919 and 59.3 per cent before 1940. Stockingford records 21.5 per cent before 1919 and Caldwell and Chilvers Coton 21.2 per cent. Weddington and St Nicholas Park records 36.8 per cent built from 2000 onwards, and across the eleven areas 21.3 per cent dates from 2000 onwards (VOA CTSOP4.1). Census 2021 table TS044 records 38.1 per cent of borough households in semi detached houses, 25.0 per cent detached and 24.1 per cent terraced.
The town centre and the newer estates want different pages. One shows old openings measured and made good, the other shows a whole house of openings ordered at once, and the two sets of photographs should not sit in the same folder.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council states that "Article 4 Directions are made when the character of an area of acknowledged importance would be threatened" and that "The issuing of an Article 4 Direction means that planning permission is required for work which normally does not need permission, in an area specified under the Direction", adding that an owner can check with the council if unsure. It names the Abbey Conservation Area, now in St Mary's Ward, and holds the full list on its Article 4 Directions download page. Its works in a conservation area page covers demolition and works to trees, and says nothing about windows or doors.
The Planning Portal states that planning permission is not usually needed for the "insertion of new windows and doors that are of a similar appearance to those used in the construction of the house". It adds that "If your house is in a designated area (conservation area, national park, area of outstanding natural beauty) there may be additional restrictions in place", and that listed building consent is needed for significant works to a listed building.
On building control the same source states that "Since 1 April 2002 building regulations have applied to all replacement glazing", and gives two routes: "an installer registered with the relevant competent person scheme", who provides a certificate on completion, or an unregistered installer or do it yourself, "in which case approval can be sought from the relevant Building Control Body".

We counted the Google Maps results for window fitters in Nuneaton on 17 September 2026. The sample was 40 listings: 7 were window or glazing firms with a Nuneaton postal address, 5 of them listed a website and 2 listed none. Three rows carried no address at all, no merchant and no national showroom appeared with a Nuneaton address, and the remaining 30 gave addresses in Hinckley, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
