Websites for roofers in Barnsley that fill the diary.

Barnsley has pre 1919 terraces in the Dearne and a stone slate tradition recorded in the Elsecar appraisal.

Barnsley Council's Housing Strategy 2024 to 2028 states that almost 30% of private sector housing here, some 22,500 homes, was built before 1919. We build a stone slate page off the Elsecar appraisal, a terrace page for the Dearne and a repair page. See it live before you pay a penny, keep your domain, live in 7 days.

The houses in Barnsley

Valuation Office stock table CTSOP4.1, stock at 31 March 2025, counts 115,540 properties in Barnsley, 23,040 built before 1919 and 42,840 before 1940. Census 2021 table TS044 records 45.5% semi detached and 23.3% terraced.

Barnsley Council's Housing Strategy 2024 to 2028 states that around 60% of private sector housing in Barnsley is over fifty years old, and that almost 30%, some 22,500 homes, was built before 1919. That second figure is for private sector housing only, which is why it sits above the Valuation Office figure for all stock.

The council's Elsecar conservation area appraisal records local sandstone walls with stone slate roofs, and notes that although sandstone slates were the original roofing material, blue Welsh slate replaced them. Reform Row, built in 1837, originally had a stone slate roof. Cobcar Terrace is squared coursed sandstone with Welsh slate. We would give stone slate work its own page, with your own finished jobs photographed on it.

Goldthorpe and the Dearne

The council's Housing Strategy runs a Goldthorpe Housing Project to regenerate pre-1919 terrace housing by acquisition, demolition and new build, plus a retrofit project on up to 83 pre-1919 terrace properties, funded from over 23.1 million pounds of Towns Fund money across Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe and Bolton upon Dearne.

Pre-1919 terrace roofs: slipped slates, stripped and relaid pitches, rear outrigger and alley access, and retrofit work where insulation and roof work land on the same house.

Penistone

7,900 people and about 3,500 homes in the council's own area profile, high on the Pennine edge, and a conservation area on the council list along with Thurlstone, Hoylandswaine, Ingbirchworth and Langsett.

Stone slate and natural slate on exposed Pennine stock, where wind uplift and ridge work are the recurring jobs and matching materials is a planning question.

Wombwell

About 17,300 people and 8,100 homes, one of the borough's larger townships in the council's area profile.

Volume repair and re-roof work on inter-war and post-war stock, the diary filler between the bigger jobs.

Hoyland

About 11,950 people and 5,750 homes, next to Elsecar where the appraisal records sandstone walls with stone slate and Welsh slate roofs.

Mixed: conservation area slate work in Elsecar, ordinary tile repairs across the newer estate stock.

Cudworth

About 9,400 people and 4,250 homes in the council area profile, former colliery township north east of the town.

Terrace and semi repairs, chimney and flashing work, a lot of it landlord and small job work.

The rules that change a roofing job in Barnsley

Barnsley Council lists 18 conservation areas: Barnsley Regent Street, Church Street and Market Hill, Barnsley Victoria Road, Barnsley Huddersfield Road, Billingley, Brierley, Carlton, Cawthorne, Darfield, Elsecar, High Hoyland, Hoylandswaine, Ingbirchworth, Langsett, Penistone, Thurlstone, Wentworth Castle and Stainborough Park, Worsbrough and Wortley.

The council describes them as areas with buildings constructed using traditional forms and materials. We found no borough wide Article 4 direction on the council's conservation pages.

We would build a page that names those areas, sets out which jobs need permission, and says that you check the address against the conservation area boundary and against any Article 4 direction before you quote.

Who you are up against in Barnsley

We counted the Google Maps results for roofers in Barnsley on 16 September 2026. The sample was 40 listings: 35 had a website and 5 had none, those five being JSRB Roofing, LC Roofing Specialists, AR Roofing, Swift Roofing Specialist and The Roofing Company. Four of the 40 carried Barnsley in their web address, and four pointed at a Facebook page or a builder platform.

That is one dated sample of one search. What we would do with it is give Penistone, Wombwell, Hoyland, Cudworth and the Dearne a page each, carrying the jobs you have taken in them.

  • CR Roofing Services Ltd

Built on WordPress. It carries photographs of its own jobs and reviews on the page. It has no page per area. Quotes come through a form.

The site carries a gallery of job photographs uploaded to its own media library, and a review block on the home page reading EXCELLENT, based on 65 reviews posted on Google, with named reviewers and dates.

Roofers in Barnsley ask us

  • Half my jobs are old stone terraces. Does that belong on a website?

Barnsley Council's Housing Strategy 2024 to 2028 states that almost 30% of private sector housing here, some 22,500 homes, was built before 1919, and the Elsecar appraisal records sandstone slate and blue Welsh slate as the roofing materials. We would give stone slate its own page, with your finished work photographed on it.

  • Is there enough work in the Dearne to justify a page for it?

The council has committed over 23.1 million pounds of Towns Fund money across Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe and Bolton upon Dearne, including retrofit of up to 83 pre 1919 terrace properties and a programme of terrace acquisition and rebuild. We would give the Dearne its own page, carrying the terrace work you have done.

  • Do I need to mention planning or conservation areas?

Barnsley has 18 conservation areas, including Penistone, Elsecar, Cawthorne and Worsbrough, and the council describes them as areas with buildings using traditional forms and materials. We would say which materials you match, explain which jobs need permission, and say that you check the address first.

  • What did you find on Google Maps for Barnsley roofers?

In our sample of 16 September 2026, 40 listings came back: 35 with a website and 5 with none, four pointing at a Facebook page or a builder platform, and four carrying Barnsley in their web address. That is one dated sample of one search. We would give each job and each township its own page.
