The houses in Bradley Stoke

Our own total of the Valuation Office stock table CTSOP4.1, stock at 31 March 2025, across the two Bradley Stoke census areas is 8,720 properties. 7,750 of them, 88.9 per cent, were built between 1973 and 1999 and 920 from 2000 onwards. Inside that, 4,580 fall in the 1983 to 1992 band, 3,170 in 1993 to 1999, 780 in 2000 to 2008 and 140 from 2009 onwards. These are our own totals over the named areas rather than a published town row, and the Valuation Office rounds every cell to the nearest ten.

Census 2021 table TS044 records 38.3 per cent of Bradley Stoke North East households in detached houses with 25.7 per cent terraced, and 38 per cent detached in Bradley Stoke Central with 29.8 per cent terraced. Across South Gloucestershire as a whole the figures are 26.6 per cent detached and 25.5 per cent terraced.

Those are construction periods and accommodation types, not garden installation dates. We would build the site to show what you have actually finished on these estates, area by area.

The rules that change a landscaping job in Bradley Stoke

South Gloucestershire Council says a tree preservation order makes it unlawful to prune, damage or destroy a tree without the council's consent, and that a conservation area tree with a stem of over 75mm in diameter measured 1.5 metres above ground level needs "6 weeks' notice before pruning or completing any other work". The same page says applications go on the planning portal or on a downloadable tree works application form.

The Planning Portal says an outbuilding may qualify as permitted development on an eligible house, subject to all applicable conditions. Among the selected conditions it sets: no outbuilding on land forward of a wall forming the principal elevation, single storey with a maximum eaves height of 2.5 metres and a maximum overall height of four metres with a dual pitched roof or three metres for any other roof, a maximum height of 2.5 metres within two metres of a boundary of the curtilage, no verandas or balconies, platforms no more than 0.3 metres in height, and no more than half the area of land around the original house covered by additions or other buildings. It also says outbuildings within the curtilage of a listed building require planning permission. The same page says that on designated land buildings, enclosures, containers and pools at the side of a property require planning permission and that the allowances do not apply to flats and maisonettes.

South Gloucestershire Council puts the number of conservation areas in the district at 30, names Hanham Abbots, Warmley and Siston among them, and says it may restrict permitted development for particular classes through Article 4 Directions.

We would explain how you check the conservation boundary, any tree preservation order, any Article 4 direction and the proposed work before confirming whether permission or notice is needed.

Who you are up against in Bradley Stoke

We counted the Google Maps results for landscapers in Bradley Stoke on 16 September 2026. The sample was 40 listings and six of them carried a BS32 Bradley Stoke postcode: five were local garden or landscaping firms, three of those had a website and two had none, and the sixth is the Aztec West office of a national grounds maintenance group, counted separately. The remaining 34 sat in surrounding postcodes, mostly BS34 Patchway and Filton, BS36 Winterbourne and Frampton Cotterell, and BS16, and the pull also carried two turf suppliers, a paving materials showroom, a garden centre, a demolition contractor, an arborist, an electrician and three building firms.

One dated sample of one search, and no more than that. What we would do with it is give Bradley Stoke North East, Bradley Stoke Central and the Stoke Gifford edge a page each where you work them, with your own jobs on them.

Landscapers in Bradley Stoke ask us

  • The whole town went up in twenty years. Does that help the site?

It gives it a fact to open on. The Valuation Office table records 7,750 of Bradley Stoke's 8,720 properties as built between 1973 and 1999, with 4,580 in the 1983 to 1992 band alone. That is when the houses went up, not when the gardens were laid, so your finished jobs carry the rest.

  • Why do I lose enquiries to firms from Winterbourne and Patchway?

We can only tell you what the listings said. Of the 40 counted on 16 September 2026, six carried a BS32 postcode and 34 sat in surrounding ones. That is where the listings are addressed, not a reason for any one enquiry. Name the places you actually cover and give each one a page.

  • Is decking worth its own page here?

A decking page can carry the conditions properly. The Planning Portal sets limits on height, coverage and position, adds restrictions on designated land and within the curtilage of a listed building, and says the allowances do not apply to flats and maisonettes. Your own finished decks sit underneath it.
