The houses in Bridgwater

Our own total of the Valuation Office stock table CTSOP4.1, stock at 31 March 2025, across the six Bridgwater census areas is 26,030 properties. 7,770 of them, 29.9 per cent, were built from 2000 onwards, 6,350 between 1973 and 1999 and 3,880 before 1919. For comparison the published Somerset row is 272,060 properties, 21.8 per cent of them from 2000 onwards.

Stockmoor and North Petherton holds 2,600 of its 5,390 properties in the post 2000 bands, and that named area pairs Stockmoor with the village of North Petherton. Wembdon and Chilton Trinity holds 1,410 of its 4,120 from 2000 onwards, and Bridgwater Town 1,560 of its 5,360 before 1919. Census 2021 table TS044 records 53.2 per cent semi detached in Bridgwater East, 40.6 per cent semi detached with 34.2 per cent detached in Wembdon and Chilton Trinity, 50.3 per cent terraced in Bridgwater North and 40 per cent terraced with 26.8 per cent purpose built flats in Bridgwater Town.

Six areas, and the tables put them a long way apart. We would give each one a page and let your own finished gardens carry the part the tables do not record.

Stockmoor, with North Petherton

5,390 properties, 48.2 per cent built from 2000 onwards, the highest post 2000 share of the six Bridgwater areas (Valuation Office stock tables, 2025). Census 2021 TS044 records 38 per cent detached. The named area pairs Stockmoor with North Petherton, so it covers a village as well as the estate.

The rules that change a landscaping job in Bridgwater

Somerset Council says a tree preservation order makes it an offence to cut down, top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy a tree without the planning authority's permission, and that most tree works on a protected tree need an application, with a decision inside eight weeks.

On conservation areas the council publishes maps and appraisals and says they are defined in the legislation as areas of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. It adds that if you are unsure whether you live in a conservation area "it is wise to check with the Local Planning Authority before commencing any work which may elsewhere not require planning permission", and that a conservation area tree needs six weeks prior notice.

On front gardens the Planning Portal says planning permission will be needed for a new or replacement driveway of more than five square metres laid in traditional, impermeable surfacing that does not provide for the water to run to a permeable area. The same page says permeable or porous surfacing, or rainwater directed to a lawn or border, is the route that needs no application, and that the permitted development allowances apply to eligible houses, not to flats or maisonettes.

We would explain how you check the conservation boundary, any tree preservation order, any Article 4 direction and the proposed work before confirming whether permission or notice is needed.

Who you are up against in Bridgwater

We counted the Google Maps results for landscapers in Bridgwater on 16 September 2026. The sample was 40 listings and 23 of them carried a TA6 or TA7 postcode, all of them trade listings rather than merchants: twelve had a website address of their own, nine had no web address at all and two more linked only to a Facebook page. The rest of the pull reached in from Axminster, Ivybridge and the Quantocks.

One search, counted on a single day in September. What we would do with it is give Stockmoor, Bridgwater East, Wembdon, Bridgwater North, the town centre and Bridgwater South a page each, with your own jobs on them.

Where a landscaper in Bridgwater gets to when they invest

One Bridgwater firm appeared in the first ten Google local listings we checked for "landscapers in Bridgwater", with a site worth opening. That is one site, opened on the day, and it is the bar a firm here reaches once it puts money into the website.

  • Ominiworks Ltd

Built on WordPress. It carries a page per area, photographs of its own jobs and reviews on the page. Quotes come through a form, and the phone number sits in the header.

The site has separate location pages, including a Bridgwater page.

Each one opened and checked 16 September 2026.

The Bridgwater searches worth their own page

  • "landscape gardeners Bridgwater"

10 searches a month (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026)

The measured Bridgwater phrase, carried in the title and the first heading of the town page.

  • "artificial grass Bridgwater"

10 searches a month (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026)

A page of its own, with the edging and the base shown on the lawns you have laid here.

  • "decking Bridgwater"

10 searches a month (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026)

A decking page carrying the Planning Portal conditions and the decks you have built at Stockmoor.

  • "landscapers in Bridgwater"

no recorded monthly volume (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026)

The town page answers it alongside the measured phrase, naming Stockmoor, Wembdon and the town centre.

  • "garden design Bridgwater"

no recorded monthly volume (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026)

A design page with the drawing and the finished garden side by side, for the Wembdon and Stockmoor plots.

  • "patio installers Bridgwater"

no recorded monthly volume (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026)

The patio page is built regardless, with the base, the falls and the slab named.

Three of the six Bridgwater phrases shown carry a recorded monthly volume. Garden design Bridgwater returned a row with no volume on it, and landscapers in Bridgwater and patio installers Bridgwater each returned no row at all (OpenSEO keyword data, September 2026).

What we would build for a Bridgwater landscaper

  • A home page naming Stockmoor, North Petherton, Bridgwater East, Wembdon, Bridgwater North and the town centre.
  • An artificial grass page, since artificial grass Bridgwater carries a recorded monthly volume.
  • A decking page carrying the Planning Portal limits on height, coverage and position for eligible houses.
  • A full garden rebuild page for the newest Stockmoor and Wembdon plots.
  • A patios page with the base, the falls and the materials named, for the Bridgwater North terraces.
  • A hardstanding page carrying the Planning Portal wording on surfaces over five square metres.
  • Area pages for Stockmoor, North Petherton, Bridgwater East, Wembdon, Bridgwater North, the town centre and Bridgwater South.
  • A quote tool that asks what the garden needs, roughly how big it is, whether a machine can get down the side, and takes two photographs.

Landscapers in Bridgwater ask us

  • What did the Bridgwater listing count actually include?

Of the 40 listings counted on 16 September 2026, 23 carried a TA6 or TA7 postcode and every one of those was a trade listing rather than a merchant. Twelve had a website address, nine had none and two linked only to Facebook. That is a postcode based count of listings, nothing more.

  • Which searches should the site chase here?

Landscape gardeners Bridgwater, artificial grass Bridgwater and decking Bridgwater each returned 10 searches a month on 16 September 2026. Landscapers in Bridgwater returned no row at all. We would give the three measured phrases pages of their own and keep the town phrase on the town page.

  • Is the new build side worth a page on its own?

Stockmoor and North Petherton holds 2,600 of its 5,390 properties in the post 2000 bands, 48.2 per cent, and that named area covers North Petherton village as well as the estate. The figures record when houses were built. The page would show the gardens you have actually finished on those streets.
