Our own totals of the Valuation Office table CTSOP4.1, stock at 31 March 2025, cover 41,070 dwellings across the eleven census areas that make up Nuneaton. 13.2 per cent of them predate 1919 and 13.7 per cent are inter war. 27.5 per cent date from 1945 to 1972, 23.8 per cent from 1973 to 1999 and 21.3 per cent from 2000 or later.
The old stock is concentrated. Nuneaton Town Centre is 45.3 per cent pre 1919 and Stockingford 21.5 per cent, while Weddington and St Nicholas Park is 0.2 per cent. Census 2021 table TS044 records 38.1 per cent of Nuneaton and Bedworth households in semi detached houses, 25.0 per cent detached and 24.1 per cent terraced. Bedworth is a separate town in the same borough and is not in the town total.
Three plastering markets sit inside one town. Solid wall replaster, lath ceilings and lime in the middle. Artex removal and skim over on the post war estates. Dry lining and snagging out at Weddington, Camp Hill and Horeston Grange. They share almost nothing, and we would build a page for each.
Nuneaton Town Centre
45.3 per cent pre 1919 and 19.3 per cent built since 2000 (Valuation Office stock tables, 2025). The Nuneaton Town Centre conservation area covers part of it.
Solid wall Victorian stock and flat conversions on the same street. Hack off and full replaster, lath and plaster ceilings down, lime where the wall needs to breathe, damp related re plaster at skirting height, and dry lining in the conversions.
Stockingford
21.5 per cent pre 1919, 18.7 per cent inter war and 35.8 per cent built 1945 to 1972 (Valuation Office stock tables, 2025).
Three prices on one road. Terraces where the old plaster comes off, inter war semis with artex ceilings from the seventies, and post war housing for skim over.
Attleborough
17.8 per cent pre 1919 and 42.2 per cent built 1973 to 1999 (Valuation Office stock tables, 2025).
Old cottages and terraces backing onto late century estates. A full replaster quote and an over skim quote come from the same postcode, and photographs decide which.
Caldwell and Chilvers Coton
21.2 per cent pre 1919, 16.2 per cent inter war and 41.0 per cent built 1945 to 1972 (Valuation Office stock tables, 2025). The Abbey conservation area, designated 1993 and extended 2007, sits here.
Replaster and ceiling work on the older half, estate skim over on the post war half. The Abbey appraisal records render on principal elevations from the Edwardian period to the end of the 1930s. External work here is matching what is there.
Weddington and Whitestone
Weddington and St Nicholas Park is 36.8 per cent built since 2000 with 0.2 per cent pre 1919. Whitestone is 56.9 per cent built 1973 to 1999 (Valuation Office stock tables, 2025).
Skim over plasterboard and new build dry lining. Over skim, board joint cracking, coving and extension plastering. Quicker jobs, usually booked from a phone.
